Are you worried that your child is:
finding it difficult to engage in classroom or home-school activities?
"falling behind"?
"bored" or not being challenged at school?
anxious or hesitant about going to school?
overwhelmed about assignments, classwork or getting organised for learning?
experiencing reduced confidence in their learning and themselves?
withdrawing from group work and social experiences at school?
While it may feel like it, you are not alone in your concerns, particularly if you have an autistic child and/or a child with attention or sensory differences. School refusal behaviours, anxiety, and poorer academic, well-being and social outcomes have been found to be significantly elevated in neurodiverse children.
More importantly, neurodiverse learners have expressed their need to be understood, want to learn, and to be treated and supported equally to their peers. "This school is 100% not autistic friendly!" (Cunningham, 2022).
